Happy 25th Birthday, Lil Bo

October 14, 1982, Glendale, California. It was a rough trip coming out into the light, you were angry, you cried and cried. And then you slept and slept for hours upon hours. You still like to sleep.

You bonded with your daddy immediately.

Yes, that's your pipe there in the grass. Taking a break from a smoke.

We trusted your sister, just 17 1/2 months older than you, to carry you up the mountains and hold on tight, not let you fall.

She loved you so much. Still does.

And you loved her so much that when she started school in Istanbul, you just waited for her to come home.

But when you began school in the US, we thought it was important for you to feel that you fit in. So we dressed you appropriately.

More bonding with Big Bo.

Oh yeah, this was the best birthday party ever. McDonald's. Stack the Big Mac boxes.
Were you thinking parasailing in this one?

Well, you landed hard.

But it didn't hurt your ability to run fast.

And make us all sing and dance.

I love you so much, my boy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Brought a smile to my face and my heart.
How wonderful it is to be loved so much.
(Plus we shall learn a little about your son's personality by how he reacts to the posting of the toilet photo!).

Thanks mom! I laughed so hard at some of those pics, especially the ones I have never seen before (toilet, ahem). Dad you said the pics show a migration, but looking at some of those early shots of me, I'm not sure how much I've actually changed...ha. What a great gift, this is the kind of present I LOVE receiving...so much thought. I love you mom!

Ruth, i agree with Mystic Rose.
She is a mother of three herself, all three below ten. Lalitha, Vinayak (son) and youngest Shivani. There is a radiance on every mother's face. The beauty is enhanced year after year. The beauty judged by the yadstick of fashion and glamour industry is a lie. To a child even if he or she is 50 years old, mother is the most beautiful person in the world. i believe in mother worship. you have to remember one fact Ruth, all you mothers are 4.7 billion years old. You may have appeared 4 million years ago. But there were mothers before you. And you carry the torch and hand it to your daughter to take care of the children like me. When i saw your picture the first thought that struck me was oh she is 4.7 billion years old and still stunningly beautiful.

Many thanks to each of you for your sweet comments. I'm glad you felt the love of this mother for her son, for her family. I count myself as the absolute luckiest woman in the world to have received the husband, daughter and son I have. And I think about it all the time, not just on their birthdays.
