Plymouth fall festival concert

Peter (our son) and Brian, with Mark on drums behind Peter and Mike on bass behind Brian

At sunset last night we rocked in a park in Plymouth to our son's band performance at the fall festival. This is our favorite gig for them, because a couple thousand people come, and they're really into it, unlike some of the clubs/bars where people are busy drinking, talking and flirting with each other.

Families wandered the square, ate corn dogs and funnel cake, and you could hear kids screaming on the Tilt-a-Whirl fair ride in the background (at first I thought girls were screaming over the guys in the band). Peter, Brian, Mark and Mike rocked it out, and on every side little ones and big ones were dancing, clapping and loving it.

Every time the band has played Plymouth in the park, these dancers have been smack in front of the stage enjoying the music by showing off their dance moves. The dapper gentleman in suspenders often twirls his cane when dancing solo. I kid you not, he was moving almost constantly for 3 hours. I'm amazed at both the stamina and the courage!

My favorite song of the night was when Peter sang and played a cover solo of "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix. He was fantastic! I could listen to him play guitar all night. He becomes one with the instrument, and then we all become one with the music, and it's pure bliss.

This is when it KILLS me that we don't live in Michigan! Could you imagine the fun of us sharing this whole experience with you and Don!! I want to hear Peter do that Jimi Hendrix song!!!

I'm happy the night went well and Peter had a great solo!! However, I am super bummed that we were not able to see the show. Maybe they will visit Atlanta again in the near future...or they will have a gig scheduled during our next trip to Michigan. I can not image how it must feel, as a parent, to watch your son performing on stage on a very regular basis. Must be incredible!!

You're so cool Pete!

Ginnie, it would be SO fun if you, Donica, Amy and Nicholas (and Dennis), could be here for these gigs.

Donica, maybe they can work out a gig in Atlanta again, it seems that it's time. Yes, it feels amazing to watch Peter perform. I kept walking over to the side of the stage where I could hide behind a pile of chairs and watch and listen up close. But then I felt I needed to go back and be sociable and sit with family. :)

Ginnie, of course it would be fun if Mark could be here too! I need to quit making lists, because I always leave someone out. :|

Okay, Ruth. The next time Peter plays anywhere remotely near Brighton, you'll need to let me know.

Ok, Heather. Let me know what "remotely close" is, and I'll keep you posted. See you tonight!

Weswey, we'll get a copy for you. Do you have head phones? They really help block out the noises of the fair in the background.

I wish you could have been here. But then, you're following your dream too.

So very cool!!! I didn't know that Peter was doing solos with the band and I would have LOVED to have heard him. We definitely need our W&M fix down here in Atlanta!! :-)

Amy, hello! :)

Maybe they should line up a couple of gigs in Atlanta and make the long drive for more than just Eddie's, eh?

I'll ditto that about them coming to Atlanta. I forgot to mention that the dancing couple up front is hysterical. I probably would have watched them as much as Peter! HA.

Ruth said...

Yes, Ginnie, that couple (and one other lady) are very funny. I sometimes got distracted by them, but after a while, you get used to their presence, and it becomes part of the show.

Wish they go international Ruth !
It looks so comforting.
Has Lesley watched any of Peter's concerts ?

Ruth said...

Rauf, yes, Lesley was at the Plymouth park concert last summer, I'm so glad. And she has heard him here and there at other gigs. Actually she is Peter's favorite fan in the audience because she is so responsive.

Don video-taped Friday's concert, so we want to be sure she can see Pete's solo.

Maybe someday you will see them in India. Wouldn't that be something!?

Yes I'll travel to Delhi or Bombay to see him Ruth. I'll hop in to a train even if I am broke.
