Rocks, with Ms. Goldeneye

Please click on image for a larger, unpixelated view.

Update: Sorry, apparently clicking takes you nowhere. More blogger woes.

"Rocks, with Ms. Goldeneye"

This photo is for the JorgDotOrg PhotoHunt: A Mineral (with an animal for an extra point).

I went to the Potter Park Zoo in Lansing for the first time last evening since my kids were little. The mountain goats were very cautious about me, but they posed nicely.

Awwww. She DID pose nicely for you. And now I wonder what took you to the Potter Park Zoo, unless it was specifically for the photo hunt!

BTW, when I clicked on the image, it said "Not Found." Ugh. So you are having problems, I see. You'll get them worked out, knowing you!

Ginnie, I went to the zoo for the photo hunt (and to the ledges the day before). I really enjoy the fact that the hunt is getting me out, especially since Don is putting in extra hours prepping for school's start next week.

I am really very sorry I switched to google on this site, believing that is the source of my woes. I've been thinking about starting over with a new blog site, but just thinking so far . . . "Ugh" is right!

How are the animals?

Rachel, I don't know, I'm no expert. But they didn't look very happy to me. They looked stressed or bored or just generally not at home. I appreciate what the zoo is trying to do, and they've done a lot to improve it, but I just can't really get into it, you know? But hey, I got my photo!

Stunning picture Ruth, Directly looking into the eyes.

Potter Park zoo is a nice name, looks like well maintained, it does not look like a zoo at all.

No problem with this page, but in the previous page first 3 pictures are still not loading. I had this problem few months ago when I started posting in firefox. Works well in firefox but doesn't open in IExplorer. Then I went back to Explorer.

I use Firefox, Ruth and Rauf, and have no problems whatsoever. So go figure!

Yes Ruth clicking on the picture takes me to an error page
'Not found, Error 404'
Let me do some test posting today and check

This picture doesn't look pixilated to me. looks fine. I have a slightly darker screen. Picture is very sharp and saturated, and you have captured soft, warm evening light.

Evening light ?

Ruth said...

Rauf, thank you, I'm glad the pic is sharp for you. I find this whole thing mysterious, but I will keep trying to figure it out. So, firefox is what gave you problems?

Yes this photo was taken in the evening. It was a perfect evening, the temperature was just right, with a breeze, and there weren't very many people. For this little zoo, the admission is $8, which is quite steep for a town the size of Lansing. But by evening, there was no admission, so I got in free, and enjoyed wandering around. The mountain goats had the nicest area; it felt open and free. Many of the others were not very interesting, and as I told Rachel, the animals looked bored. I do not know how many of these animals were raised in captivity.

Thanks, Heather! She really was sweet. But I think she was worried about me, poor thing. What was this box thingie in my hands? Some sort of weapon? :(

No Ruth firefox did not give me any problem. Post in firefox open in firefox is fine, post in firefox and open in IE posed problems. Many of my friends complained. Since many use IE, I went back to posting in IE

You should see mountain goats climbing in Himalayas Ruth, they climb almost vertical. Climbing down is tricky, I have never seen them falling. I have slept with herd of sheep and shephards in the caves of himalayas. Not a pleasant experience. Takes days to get rid of the stink out of your mind.

Ahhh. Now I understand what Rauf is saying. Yes. If I do a post in Firefox with multiple wrap-around images, I always have to test it in IE first before I publish it. Just little quirks that can mess the whole thing up in IE but not in FF. I haven't gone back to IE because I know when it happens and fix it first.

Rauf, I see now too. Thank you for the explanation. Very helpful.

Oh man, I can't believe you slept in a cave with goats! That is a story for your blog sometime!

Ruth said...

Sorry, Rauf, I mean you slept in a cave with sheep. :)

Ginnie, I had no idea these issues existed!

Aunt Ruth- The last time I went to that zoo I had such an incredible experience. I was in the monkey house trying to escape the rain outside. I for some reason was compelled to show the monkeys my umbrella (My friend and I were the only ones there). It was so cute. I pulled it out and showed them the umbrella in a Vanna White fashion and they all gathered around the window- about 5-6 of them. Then, suddenly, I pressed the button, and POOF! the umbrella popped open, and they all shrieked and jumped back a few feet from the surprise! Of course when they realized it was harmless, they were back for more, egging me on to do it again! I must have been in that monkey house for 2 hours. It became very difficult as there was a thick wall of glass preventing us from being together, preventing them from seeing all the amazing wonders of the world. If they were this excited over an umbrella, imagine how much fun they could have if they were free! It slayed me and I haven't been back to a zoo since.

Rauf- if you make it back this way again- I was wondering if you were sleeping with the yogis in the caves. I just saw Naked in Ashes- the movie about yogis. I was wondering if that is an accurate depiction of a real yogi, or if those hypocrites are just wannabes? That movie was ridiculous.

By the way, have you seen Peaceful Warrier or read Way of the Peaceful Warrier yet??? It's coming out on video!

Also, did you get my email about Integrative Nutrition?

Rachel, Thank you for recounting that monkey story. I can totally picture it, and it sounds fantastic. You are amazing!

I have not read the book or seen the movie yet! I want to. My friend Inge and I might have to watch it together soon.

Yes, I got your email!! I need time to answer it, which I plan to do this weekend! Thank you so much. :) Your new teaching job sounds GREAT!
