A walk around the farm in autumn

-
-
It's going to be a busy week here, with Thanksgiving this Thursday. Living out in the country on this farm (it's a non-working farm, I think you know) means we can go out for a walk in nature when we need a break, into the sanctuary of the meadow and woods. I made a video slideshow of some of my photos, so come out with me and Esperanza Spalding while she sings "Ponte de Areia." We might not be digging our toes into sand on a Brazilian beach with the surf pounding in our ears, but the air is fresh and the November sun is warm. Sometimes I even discern a zephyr from across the sea.

Five and a half minutes through my little cosmos. It's best full screen.

Absolutely wonderful, Sister. I love that you've created this poetic video for us from your own paradise there. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Ruth. Only today I was telling a friend that I need not travel far and wide in literal terms. I have all these wonderful friends throughout the blogosphere whose homes I can visit in words and pictures and you've just reaffirmed this.

It's not quite the same as being there with you but it's pretty good nevertheless. And inspirational.

Hurry up, Lorenzo, you can be here by sunrise, when I predict the sky will put on her pink rocío dress for you!

Thank you, Boots. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Astrid!

Elisabeth, well I love that. Truly for me, too, the world has opened up, in big ways and small, through friends like you in faraway places. It's still hard to get my head around you heading into summer, while we darken down into winter.

A lovely morning walk with you and Esperanza! Loved the beaded spider webs and the other visual elements of this visual poem. Now, if only I could sit for a while with you and Esperanza, having a cup of tea perhaps.

When the image appeared, I found myself virtually smelling the smoke wafting up from the burn barrel....

Oh Ruth -- I was transported this morning walking with you and Esperanza as my guides through a world of wonder.

I love a Queen named Bishop.

and that spider's web -- oh my! Oh my!

The reflections held so stilly within each dewdrop -- exquisite!

thank you for filling my morning with joy and wonder and beauty.

Oh wow!

But... seriously.... I have to ask.... where's the snow????

We've got it. Why don't you? :)

Delightful stroll!

What a delightful timeout to walk the grounds! You're so fortunate to be so deep in the bosom of Ma N. And you're a wonderful photographer, such clarity and crispness throughout. I'm highly jealous of the frost, and greetings to Mlle. Bishop. The web series somehow seemed a great mediation on how our work threads out. and through. Thanks! - Brendan

Autumn means that all of nature is sunk in meditation
I enjoyed my walk.

Thank you for these five minutes of peace and bliss, Ruth. Yes, as George (?) said, visual poetry filling every sense.
Happy, happy Thanksgiving!

How I love the colors of November...all those shades of grey and amber. What a delightful way of savoring the moment! I was sitting with a mug of coffee, leaning back into my chair, listening to the delightful music as those images played across the screen...Delightful! How I love the dried goldenrod, the stand of naked trees, the crystal spiderweb, and Bishop of course. Thank you so much for taking us along with you.

What program did you use to put it all together? It looks very professional:)

Gorgeous photos. How did you do this on You Tube?

Thank you for this extreme pleasure. I enjoyed every "step" of it! And the music complements your photos in a very interesting way. Inspirational! You may see something similar over at my place quite soon!

I enjoyed the beautiful walk around your place and the music. It made me feel as if I were there. Thanks.

Just exquisite... esp. the close-up's of the spider webs. What you have here is visual poetry, Ruth. And now if somebody asks: "What's the best kind of farm?" I know the answer to be: "A non-working farm." ;) Why... a farm only for the capturing and writing down of nature... pure enjoyment. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful Thanksgiving, but I send my best wishes just the same.

Dear George, won't you come and sit with us, and drink some Brazilian yerba mate tea? It's not all that different looking than euonymous. I haven't tried it before, but I just had to see if there is Brazilian tea, and sure enough, this is a pretty interesting sounding drink that is infused in a gourd. Check it out on wiki

C.M., thank you. You can see why I am inspired here.

Nelson, a smoke blast from the past, no? :-)

Louise, thank you for your enthusiastic response to my slideshow and Esperanza's beautiful song! I had not thought of the Queen and Bishop in chess terms until your comment. :-)

As for snow, we have had a few flurries, but nothing on the ground! We've had unseasonably warm weather, though it is cold now. I won't be surprised if it snows this week. It seems like we often get our first snowstorm Thanksgiving weekend.

Ruth said...

Thanks, Reena!

Ruth said...

Brendan, thank you for walking with me and for your generous response. The dewy webs were from a magic morning two years ago. The frost was too, I confess. We've had a bit of it though, but not photos yet this year. I would miss it, too, if I lived in the heat of FL. The crystals seem to be different every time they form, and I never get tired of looking closely.

Ruth said...

Thank you, Friko. I imagine that you have meditated a great deal with nature in your autumn garden.

Ruth said...

Maureen, thank you for walking along, and for the Thanksgiving wishes! Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

Ruth said...

ds, thank you, my friend. And a very Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Oliag, it was lovely to have you walk along with me. This meadow and woods are ever changing, from time of day, or season, or weather, and I feel myself drawn to it as to a source.

I created the program with Picasa software. Just google for a free download. I was happy to find it for the Mac, because I believe when I first got the Macbook a couple years ago, they didn't have it, or so I thought anyway. It is so easy to create a video and then load it up to YouTube! It even allowed me to pull the song from iTunes. I don't know how long the music will last before it gets pulled for copyright reasons, we'll see. But there are free music sites where you can use music without worrying about copyright, just google 'royalty free music.'

Ruth said...

Mary, thank you!

Please see my answer to your question in my response to Oliag, just above here.

Sonya, well you know what they say about imitation. Thanks for that compliment! And for walking through this place with me. I look forward to what you will do in your world.

Ruth said...

Hi, Shari! I liked having you walk with me.

Ruth said...

Arti, thank you so much. I smile at your answer to the question. It's a luxury to have this space to wander in and not to have to work it.

Blessings from the Bishop? I share your enjoyment of macro photography. I wonder...if we waited long enough, would we catch the spider shaking the drops off the strands?
