and did you get what you wanted?

And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.

BCB/Rachel, I knew dat was you, hehe. Me drinking coffee, not tea, don't drink much tea. But I'd love it if you'd sit and drink tea with me while I drink coffee.

Boots, I was thinking that, and because it's short, I probably will. But I still want to work on the poem Heather suggested. My brain is getting pretty rusty for this memorization stuff. Whose idea was this anyway . . .

Ruth said...

Britt-Arnhild, really??? But I love you, and I barely know you! Your presence through your blog and your visits here is . . I dunno . . . stellar. You have a clarity and insight and perspective that really draws me in. If you're this on a blog, you must be amazing in person.

JoAnn, you made my day with your sweet, sweet words, thank you so much. To be happy and loved, there is nothing more than that. I am so glad you have it too.

This is poignant for the day.

I lost a student last night, and Emma a friend since the age of 11. Of her 18 years lived, 2 most recently in New Hyde Park, NY.

She and I head there Friday and will even have the opportunity to brunch with Nathan and Nancy before the funeral...and Lesley?

I'm playing "Near The Cross", then back to FL on Monday.

Luvs to you, Beloved Aunt.

i don't know Ruth, don't know what i want in my life. Every day is a bonus for me. its a big miracle that i wake up. This is why i make no plans. This is why i have no savings.
i scratch my head and say

but i am very good at making other people's life miserable. i make them pull their hair.

Ruth said...

Mrs. M., no one ever talks about school GPAs, bank accounts, type of car driven, cute purses, shoes, hairstyle, or politics at funerals. I'm guessing you will hear about your friend's essence, and that is what you'll be thinking about too. As I wrote in "Uncle Jimmie's Funeral" it's the time we all focus on that person, even if we didn't all focus on them in life. Everything comes down to that realization that there was something there that we were drawn to, and what was it?

Ruth said...

Please keep making our lives miserable, rauf. With misery like this, who needs joy?

KMF said...

she is very cute

Ruth said...

Yes, she is, KMF. Thanks for agreeing, hehe. She is also elegant and an expert huntress. She is not aloof, but she is usually just out of reach, unlike in this photo where I am clutching her and she is drooling on my jacket, see?

Hi Ruth,
This is a question about your comment on my blog ( coffe teapot froma cow) what's 'dub' someone to something? Is that like baptism? I really don't know what the word 'dub' means, please explain it in other words... It sounds funny so I think its mend sweet ,( I'm Dutch remember?)

Bye dear Ruth have a happy week, bye sweet satisfied cat a hugh for you 'cat' xxx :)

Ruth said...

I "dubbed" you queen of cows (not that you're a cow, you're their queen mother) which just means I "named" you that, and there is also a meaning of touching your shoulders with a sword, as in knighting you.

Such contentment in that picture.

I'm also stopping by to pass along the "You Make Me Smile" award. It was passed to me and now I'm passing it along to you in my post today. Thanks!

I just gave coffee up today:)()()(
not sure whether to smile or frown?

It's never easy the first couple of days- cravings and headaches, and the drowsy feeling.

But in a couple of days, I'll be like new.

Yes, I have no doubt that we will share time together soon:)

Ruth said...

RK, did you go "cold turkey?" I did that once, and I was seeing stars for a couple of days, not a good idea. Please do it gradually, wean off one cup a day. Your system is going to be shocked, and your headaches will be murder if you do it instant withdrawal.

I feel your pain. :(

Well at least we know Bishop got what he wanted, some loving and attention!
What a beautiful kitty! The picture just makes me want to pet him!

Ruth said...

Theresa, Bishop is a dream cat. I adore her, she must have been a queen in another life, a good one.
