Last Thursday, after spending the day at Tulip Time in Holland (you can see this week's photos from that day at flying), I left my brothers and their families on 8th Street for the beach.
I wanted to get to the beach to see the sun set, and I barely made it. I pulled into the parking lot, and the chin had already dipped below the horizon.
When I got to the entry booth at Holland State Park, I thought "Drat! Another 5 minutes and he would have been gone, and I wouldn't have to pay." But I bought a parking pass for the season.
I looked in my rear view mirror, and there was a stream of cars behind me! All heading to the beach at the end of the day! Not a stream of cars leaving, they were arriving, like me, to watch the sun set.

Totally awesome, Ruth. All the pics! I do hope/assume some/all of them will go up on Flying?! So glad you bought a pass. Now you'll easily go back and get your money's worth, again!
These sunset pictures are AMAAAAAZING!! What a great set of moments you captured!
Aha ! Robert Redford, walking with a bucket and the net, Is he the same gentleman who appeared in Flying ? the sundance man ??
I can see you running Ruth, normally i don't use a camera case.
it irritates me when i want to remove the camera from the case, wasting precious moments.
The sun disappears so fast. You got painted sky too. Thanks for stopping and taking a picture of the girl sitting on a bench. Why the man is not looking at the setting sun ? i get very angry. Couple of weeks ago near silent valley my host ( miracle ) took me to a site where he has plans to build a health resort and wanted my ideas, i am going there again (Herbal Remedies Blog). There were hills all around, so sunset was too bright but i know i'll have a terrific afterglow. i waited, the sky turned so beautiful, i was in tears and clicking pictures and my host was so busy. He was just making calls receiving calls one after other. Never once looked up.
Ginnie, yes, I'm determined to go back in the summer and fall (and winter, ha!). Thank you!
Amy, thank youuuuuuu! :) I know you like sunrises and sunsets. So quick, but so ecstatic.
No, rauf!! He is looking into his camera -- see the tripod!!!! I almost said something about it in the post.
You know sometimes I feel bad for clicking away and not just watching.
Ruth, you have to pay an entry fee and for a camera at bird santuaries, very little actually, Movie and video fee is higher.
If any one is charging parking ticket or entry fee to witness natural beauty, they guy will be hammered here.
I am guilty of missing the moments Ruth, but there were times when i forget to take pictures, i sit and enjoy.
Beautiful, Ruth. And they make me feel a little homesick for Holland Beach!
Glad you made it. The colors, peaceful atmosphere and the silhouettes are really great.
Now that you have a season pass, I hope we see more of theseshots.
Kris, thank you, but I'm sorry to make you homesick. :( At least you'll see your mom and dad SOOOOON! :D
Photowannabe, thank you. It's just a bit of a trek, about 2 hours from here. With the cost of gas, I'll have to think about how many trips, but after buying the pass, it is a commitment.
Hi Ruth, had a moment to come over and thank you for your visit but THIS SUNSET deserves a comment. Beautiful...
have a good day, can't wait to have time to view more here.
Sandy, thank you so much for your visit and kind comment!
