Getting away

unknown kayakers on the 4th of July weekend at "our" lake

Don and I are getting away for the weekend tomorrow after work, heading for my family's cottage. It's about an hour and a half drive away, with a sweet little lake. Lesley says I can borrow her kayak! That will be a first for me, though I've been in many canoes.

The plan is to be on the lake when the sun comes up Saturday. Still water, mist, swans, herons (at least I hope some are left and haven't all migrated).

That sounds nice. We are going to take a day-trip to the woods on Sunday to get our fill of nature. Wish we had a cottage to go to here:)

I see you changed your blog photo. Are trees aware of their own beauty? Does the tree have the potential to realize how radiant it is? Does it understand how it is adored by you?

Rachel, I hope you enjoy your day trip. It's so good to get back to nature. I wish you had a cottage too.

I have had this conversation with myself and with Don about tree consciousness. There is a wonderful story I read, about Osho I think, where he left a town he loved to go away to school. He was saddest to leave his beloved tree, even more sad than leaving his family. He felt that he and the tree communicated on a conscious level. I don't know if the trees know, but there is some level of consciousness. There has to be, because there is Life.

Rachel, I should have said, "I wish you had a cottage THERE too." You have a cottage! :)

How soulful, Ruth! That is such a beloved place for us all. Be filled up and come back to us refreshed and with lots of gorgeous photos!

This past week it has been trees speaking to us AND stones. I have brought back a couple stones that speak to me every time I hold them in my hand. There's got to be something said for these conversations carried on with nature!

Hope you have a great time Ruth.
Where is Peter Is he busy with concerts ?

Ginnie, stones, yes! and trees. So much life and energy. I love to connect with these life elements. Can't wait to hear your stories when you get back from BC and CA!

Thanks, Rauf. We're back, and I'll post something soon about the weekend.

Peter has regular gigs on Fridays and Saturdays now, so his weekends are spent working.
