This series is a poem. Your berries are so luscious and the thorns sharp enough to feel through the screen. I wish I could share the bread I made yesterday to go with that jam.

Oh yum! We love berries here. Noah and I sat and ate a whole pint of organic raspberries the other night, just popped them in our mouths... while watching Sponge Bob. That jam is like gold!!!
This year seems to be one in the west for super-sized blackberries, sometimes 2 inches long and an inch across. Looks like Michigan has some very big berries this year too.

Tis the time of year to indulge!!! ... I haven't made jelly this year though... tell Don it looks fantastic... I only wish I had my very own jam-maker, like you do!!! Lucky!!!!!!
Sharon, it was a quick process actually. About an hour picking, then making the jam start to finish, maybe 1.5 hours. Freezer jam is quick and easy. Course I have a farmer's wife-man who has done it so often he's got it down to an efficient science.

I have in my backyard blackberries WITHOUT thorns.....a delight to pick and not get picked..... I almost can taste them when I look at your great pictures. Thanks for sharing and giving me a smile....I am not a kitchen-princess, we say.....I have other hobbies, so making jam/jelly is a big thing for me, but fun to do.

Kitchen-princess, that's funny, I like that. I'm not a kitchen-princess either. Well I like to cook, but not baking and preserving so much. Yes you and I have other hobbies. I'm lucky to have my own kitchen-prince.

Amy, that's great! Watch out for the thorns, wear long sleeves and pants and socks!
The berries are big and juicy this year. The power company came through in May and cut a huge swath right through the center of the blackberry patch, so we lost 1/2 of our berries. But, they are free and wild, so life is still great.
Those thorns are little devils, Ruth, and make me gun-shy! BUT those berries are well worth the jam, so...thanks to all who risk the picking! :) LOVE the pictures!

Oh what luck! I just found a blackberry patch in the woods yesterday. They look to be about the same stage as yours are. I can hardly wait!
