I don't really know how it could have. But teenagers can be as thoughtless as little children, so I think it really did happen.<br /><br />What you described from your childhood - of scraping together a costume - is one of the best parts of Halloween. I didn't like it if I did that an hour before going out, because then it would be pretty lame. But with a little thought and planning, we could come up with some fun ones - even if they were just a hobo with a bandana-wrapped bundle at the end of a walking stick, or a lady with a big stuffed bosom.<br /><br />I am still LAUGHING about handing out Saltines!!
